Beth Bathe is a Plein Air painter. A Virginia Commonwealth University graduate, Beth is highly influenced by American Regionalist painter Andrew Wyeth. She refers to much of her subject matter as “the vanishing landscape.” Her representational paintings have been described by art critics as “evoking nostalgia, like that of an old sepia toned photograph, often with just touches of color.” Beth paints with Cobra water soluble oils, in a very limited tonal palette. Her tools include squeegees, toothpicks, paper towels and cotton squabs giving my paintings a washy, vintage feel. Beth's subject matter includes finding beauty in buildings that are often beyond their prime. They might be abandoned, or derelict, or soon to be part of the vanishing landscape. Beth is represented by several galleries up and down the East Coast of the United States.
