Regina Martin (Gina) spent her early years on a small seven acre farm near Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Her fondest childhood memories include making pets out of every animal in the pasture, picking wild berries along the dirt road leading to her home, and fast bicycle rides down Bumble Bee Hill. Her love of gardening and appreciation of nature was fostered by the slower pace of life on the farm.
Gina attended Lancaster Mennonite High School and shortly after graduation made Lancaster County her home. She graduated from Millersville University with a B.S. in Art Education. The decision to work toward a degree in art education at the age of thirty was a pivotal point in her life. It was in painting class that Gina met her artist husband Fred. They were married in Florence, Italy and go back often to enjoy the art, food, and wine. In 2006 Gina became a founding partner of the Red Raven Art Company.
Gina prefers to work in series, believing that time adds endless possibilities and strength to a body of work. Her sources of inspiration are found in ordinary everyday objects. Her challenge is to uncover the extraordinary in her own voice. The goal is to approach art-making with an open mind, exploring creative possibilities through observation, intuition, experimentation, and happy accidents. For her, the act of creating is both a struggle and a joy; continually striving to develop a more sophisticate eye while holding unto the element of playfulness.
