Theresa is a Philadelphia-based artist, born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Her artistic journey began at a very young age; she won a scholarship to attend an adult painting program at the Everhart Museum when she was only nine. She earned her BFA and teaching certification from Temple University's Tyler School of Art. Her career then took many turns, including working with a furniture builder, collaborating with designers and decorators on custom wall finishes, and starting her own mural painting business. Throughout, she balanced her art with working for her husband's construction business.
Today, Theresa is a full-time studio artist, primarily painting with oil and cold wax while also experimenting with printmaking. She bridges these mediums through her subject matter, composition, and love of texture. Her art is a direct response to her years of living with undiagnosed Lyme disease; she has become an advocate for Lyme awareness, using her art as a way to express and document her journey, and to offer solidarity to others facing similar struggles. Theresa lives and works in Penllyn, PA with her husband, her son (now in college), her German Shepherd Griffin, and her goldfish.
