Our prints are done on archival watercolor paper. Many Images are available in a variety of sizes.
We will place special orders for different sizes or for prints done on canvas.
The Origin of Giclee: The first Giclee prints were produced in the early 1990s when the first large format inkjet printers emerged, allowing for printing on archival papers and canvases.
The term “Giclee” derived from the French “to spray” was coined to differentiate these fine art prints from prints produced using a conventional printing process.
Giclee vs Conventional Printing: Over 95% of colour printing today is produced using an “offset lithographic” printing process using 4 colored printing inks. This type of printing is used for conventionally printed material, but has inherent limitations for the reproduction of fine art. Today’s most advanced printing devices, used for producing Giclee prints, use up to eight different coloured inks, thereby producing a far wider range and depth of colour than the conventional process. The Gilcee printing process uses hybrid “archival quality” inks that have been independently tested to resist any visible fading for over 100 years. This combined with producing the print on archival papers or canvases result in a reproduction with a wide range and vibrant depth of colour that will last lifetimes!
Our Giclee Prints: All our giclee prints are produced by an American company based on the east coast. They have a commitment to quality and use only top quality Epson printers and archival Epson inks.
Please feel free to contact the gallery at 717-299-4400 or info@redravenartcompany.com if you wish to order a print in a different size than listed on our website or have a print done on canvas.
