Katheryn received her BFA from Brigham Young University, UT in 1993. Katheryn's work balance color and light to create peaceful environments; a quiet visual escape. She refers to her enclosed intimate spaces as "nature's cathedral".
"The light in my paintings has an underlying composition, the natural and manmade world providing the necessary lines that separate panels of color and value. I try to make them visually, physically and conceptually layered, with many places to go and meditate. I want my paintings to be reverent and magical....a place where people can go and rest, to almost feel transported. The value of art, in its many forms and mediums, is its ability to move us to another place where we have an experience or see a different perspective.”
