Sarah McRae Morton
Sarah McRae Morton grew up in Lancaster Pennsylvania. She Currently lives and works in Germany.
She attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia after studying during her high school years with Myron Barnstone. In 2007 she was granted a fellowship to travel and study in Europe. She took this opportunity to study art restoration and conservation in Rome, then to study with painter, Odd Nerdrum in Norway. Since, she has worked on series of paintings in West Virginia, Cerrillos New Mexico, Carmel California, Baltimore Maryland, and Freiburg Germany. She was a Matisse Foundation Fellow at the Skowhegan Residency in Maine in 2008.
Using a vocabulary of symbols drawn from Western Art history, she relays stories about the people and places where she works. She has exhibited at Red Raven since 2007.
